Privacy Policy

Plain language, because privacy shouldn't require a lawyer. This policy explains what we collect, why, who sees it, and how you stay in control — in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Last updated: November 3, 2026

The short version

  • We only collect what we need to reply to you and run the studio — your name, contact details, and session details you choose to share.
  • Your enquiry goes to Amanda and her small team. We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
  • Analytics and advertising cookies (Google, Meta, LinkedIn) stay completely off until you say yes — and you can change your mind anytime via “Cookie Preferences” in the footer.
  • You can ask to see, correct, or delete your information anytime by emailing contact@amandadamsphotography.com.

1. Who we are

Amanda Dams Photography is a boutique photography studio at 822 11 Ave SW #203, Beltline, Calgary, AB. We are the organization responsible for personal information collected through this website, our enquiry and booking forms, and our newsletter (in privacy-law terms, the “organization” under PIPEDA).

Questions about this policy or your personal information? Email contact@amandadamsphotography.com or call 587.327.9995.

2. What we collect

  • Enquiry form

Your name, email address, phone number, the session type and preferred date you choose, your message, and (optionally) how you heard about us. We also note simple technical details — the page you enquired from, the website that referred you, and advertising click identifiers such as Google's “gclid” or UTM links — so we can understand how people find the studio.

  • Newsletter

Your first name and email address, if you choose to join our mailing list.

  • Discovery-call booking

The name, email, and phone number you enter in our booking calendar, plus the appointment details.

  • Your cookie choice

Whether you allowed analytics/marketing cookies and when that choice expires — stored in your browser so we don't ask every visit.

  • Measurement data (only with consent)

If you consent, Google, Meta, and LinkedIn receive standard device and usage information (such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, browser type) for the analytics and advertising purposes described in section 3. Without consent, none of this is collected.

Please don't put sensitive information you wouldn't want us to have (for example, health details) in the enquiry message — tell us about it on the discovery call instead.

3. Why we use it

We collect personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances, namely:

  • Replying to your enquiry and communicating about your session (the core reason you gave us your details).
  • Scheduling and preparing your session — discovery calls, styling, and session-day logistics.
  • Keeping client records in our booking system (CRM) so your session history and preferences are at hand when you return.
  • Sending studio newsletters and promotions — only with your express consent, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
  • Measuring whether our website and advertising are working: aggregate analytics (with your consent) and advertising measurement/remarketing (with your consent).
  • Protecting the website from spam and abuse (bot checks and security).

4. Consent — and how to withdraw it

  • Cookies & pixels

On your first visit a small banner asks what we may use. Until you choose (or if you decline), only essential cookies run — analytics and advertising scripts never load. Browsers sending the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal are treated as “essential only” automatically. You can change your choice anytime with the “Cookie Preferences” link in the footer, and your choice is remembered for 12 months before we ask again.

  • Enquiry form

The enquiry form includes a consent checkbox you must tick before sending — it exists so you know exactly what replying to you involves. Declining analytics or marketing cookies never affects your ability to send an enquiry.

  • Newsletter

Subscribing requires your express consent (“yes, I'd like studio news & promotions”). You can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email or by contacting us.

You may withdraw or adjust any consent at any time — through the Cookie Preferences control, the unsubscribe link, or an email to us. Withdrawal applies going forward; with your consent we may still have used your information while it was in effect (for example, a reply we already sent).

5. Cookies & tracking technologies

Essential (always on)

Strictly necessary browser storage keeps the site working: form and security protections (including Cloudflare's bot checks), and — within one browsing session — remembering which page you landed on and your enquiry details between form steps. No consent is required for these.

Analytics (only with your consent)

Google Analytics 4 — aggregate statistics about how visitors use the site (page views, rough geography, device type) so we can improve it. Provided by Google LLC.

Marketing (only with your consent)

Meta Pixel, Google Ads, and the LinkedIn Insight Tag — they let us measure whether our advertising leads to enquiries and (where the platform supports it) show ads to people who already visited. Provided by Meta Platforms, Google LLC, and LinkedIn Corporation.

We don't run hidden “no-script” versions of any advertising or analytics tags: if your browser has JavaScript disabled or you haven't consented, nothing optional loads at all.

6. Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information, and we share it only with the service providers that help us run the studio, each of which processes it on our instructions for the purposes above:

  • Cloudflare — website hosting, security and bot protection, and image/video delivery & storage.
  • 17hats — our client relationship manager, where enquiry and booking records are kept.
  • Brevo — our discovery-call booking calendar.
  • Google, Meta, LinkedIn — analytics and advertising measurement, only when you consent (section 5).

We also disclose personal information where required by law — for example, to comply with a court order or tax obligations.

7. Where your information is processed

Some of the service providers listed above store or process information outside Alberta and Canada — principally in the United States. Your information may therefore be subject to the laws of those other countries (for example, disclosure demands under their laws). We use contractual and other means to require every provider to protect your information with care comparable to PIPEDA and to use it only for our purposes.

8. How long we keep it

  • Enquiry and booking records: kept while we work with you, and afterwards as long as needed for our records, warranties, and legal or accounting requirements — then securely deleted or anonymized.
  • Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
  • Cookie-consent choice: 12 months, then we ask again.
  • Analytics and advertising data: retention periods set by each provider's standard settings.

9. Your choices & rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, request a correction, ask us to delete it, or withdraw consent — simply email contact@amandadamsphotography.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time, at no charge. If we refuse a request (for example, because we must keep records for legal reasons), we'll explain why.

You can also control cookies directly through your browser settings, though declining essential cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

10. How we protect it

Your information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS), lives behind access controls, and is seen only by the people who need it to serve you — Amanda and her small team. We review our tools and providers regularly, and if something ever goes wrong with the information we hold, we will notify affected individuals and keep a record as PIPEDA requires.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters — new purposes, new providers, new tracking — we'll update the “last updated” date above and, where your consent is needed again, ask for it before we proceed. The current version always lives at this page.

12. Questions or complaints

Please come to us first — contact@amandadamsphotography.com — and we'll make it right. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (1-800-282-1376) or, in Alberta, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
