I offer two different options for Family Photography. One is called lifestyle session, which is held at the client’s home or someplace outdoors, with natural light and candid shots.
The second option is a studio session at my commercial photo studio conveniently located in Beltline Calgary (free parking available during the session), with posed and formal shots in a neutral/plain backdrop. Both are different styles of photography, and below you will find more information about each of them to decide which one fits best your personal needs.

When you choose Amanda Dams Photography for your family photos, you get the very best one of kind experience to celebrate an important moment of your life and you get to cherish the images we create now and for years to come.
In-home Consultation
Your family photoshoot starts with a plan and I’d love to hear your ideas! During your in-home consultation we will discuss all your goals and preferences for the photography session, colours, poses, wardrobe and how you can display your portraits in your home.
My goal is to capture exactly what YOU love.
The Photoshoot
Relax and have fun! After our pre-consultation I have everything that I need to create the family photo session of your dreams. On the day of your family session, our makeup artist will arrive at your home around three hours prior to your session. So when you arrive for the photoshoot, everyone is ready for beautiful family photos!
You won’t be rushed through your photo session, and your kids will have plenty of time to warm up, change, and have fun! A family photography session can take up to two hours.
View & Order Appointment
Get ready for the tears! The reveal party happens within 1 week after the session. I will start with a slideshow and you get to see your beautiful portraits for the first time. During your ordering appointment, I will guide you through your favourite images and the best way to display them, like albums and wall art.
Receive your Photos & Products
The most exciting part of the journey! This is when you get to see your family’s images printed on our custom designed European albums and print boxes, or hanging in the highest-quality, professionally-made wall art for your space.

How do I book my photo session?
Contact us by email or call us at (587) 327-9995 and let us know what you’re interested in and when you’d like to schedule a family photoshoot. Online agreement and session fee are required to confirm booking.
Will I receive all the images from my photo session?
During the View&Order appointment you will decide how many images you would like to purchase. Our collections have 10, 25, 40 images or more.
How much editing do you do?
All my images get colour corrections, some light touch-ups if needed and a light skin smoothing layer. My goal is to always make the image look as close as possible to how the scene looked to our eyes. If more specific retouching is needed, it is available for an additional fee. Amanda Dams Photography does not sell RAW or unedited images.
How long does it take until I can view my images?
We’ll book a date and time for your View&Order appointment within 1 or 2 weeks after the session. All print orders and selections will occur at this appointment. Please allow up to 4 weeks for the editing process.

For outdoor family sessions, we have plenty of beautiful parks within Calgary that are perfect for family sessions.
What should I bring?
Any outfit changes that we previously discussed or accessories you’d like to use during the family session. If you have little kids, snacks or their favourite toys are really helpful to keep them happy!
What should I wear?
We will choose your outfits together during our in-home consultation, prior to the session. I have a variety of gowns available and you are free to choose any of them for your family session.
What products do you offer?
The true treasure of your portrait session is the creation of stunning custom portraits for display in your home. I offer many different albums, print boxes, canvases, and fine art prints to choose from. I partnered with one of the best professional labs in the world to make sure your photos will stand out at your home. Please contact me to receive the full list of products and pricing.
How do I place an order?
You will decide which products and the number of images you like during your View&Order appointment, within 1 or 2 weeks after your photo session. This is a one-to-one meeting with Amanda so she can help you materialize your memories from your family photography session.
What type of payments do you accept?
Credit/Debit cards, cash or e-transfer, and depending on how much your total is, instalment payments are available.
