When it comes to taking new baby photos, there’s nothing quite like the first time. It’s a magical moment that can’t be duplicated. And when it comes to capturing new memories, there’s no better time than when a baby is first seeing the world. However, you might be wondering when the perfect time or the best age for newborn photos. Some parents think that it’s never too soon and some say it’s never too late. There are many benefits to photographing your baby as early as possible.

Why photograph your baby early?

Newborn photography is a great way to capture those first few precious moments with your newborn baby. It also allows you to continue bonding with your baby long past the first few weeks, which is especially beneficial for siblings who may be a bit jealous that you have all the attention from your new bundle of joy.

What is the best age for newborn photos?

Newborn photography is often very emotional and a bit overwhelming for new parents. This is why it’s important to prepare yourself and your baby for this very special moment. The best age for newborn photos is in their first two weeks of age, so our recommendation is to book in advance. After you book a spot we’ll hold a spot based on your due date so we have flexibility in case the baby is born within weeks of the due date. For the newborn photography session, set aside a few hours to have your little one photographed. It’s not just the photos themselves, but the baby needs to be fed, change clothes, and everything that involves a newborn baby. We provide all the props such as blankets, hats, etc. to help make your photos more adorable. Try to get your newborn photos done in the first two weeks after birth. This way, you’re less likely to have them crying or fussy.

What should I do during my new baby photos?

This is the easy part, you get to rest and relax while we photograph your little one. Amanda has many years of experience, and we provide all the props needed to make beautiful memories of your baby.

  • You are free to do some behind-the-scenes (make sure you tag me on Instagram 🥰)
  • Make sure to remove anything that you don’t want in the pictures. Please remove anything from pockets and hair ties from wrists.
  • Please iron your clothes before the session. We do not remove wrinkles in post-production.
  • For family shoots, coordinate but don’t match.

Conclusion

Newborn photography is an extremely special moment in your life and it’s important to capture it as perfectly as you can. Whether you’re a first-time parent or have a whole hockey team already, there are many things you can do to make your new baby photoshoots unforgettable. Make sure to book in advance, as we have limited spots and our calendar is quite busy. We might have a last-minute opening but this is something we can’t guarantee. When the big day comes, set the day aside to come to the studio and have the baby’s photos done. Then, prepare yourself and your baby for the very emotional photoshoot by getting ready for it. Finally, don’t forget to bring joy and happiness, so that your baby looks even cuter.
